Family Advocacy

  • Qualified Offer Management: In some instances when a child is poisoned, parents and guardians have the option to accept a qualified offer. Family advocacy case managers at the Coalition help parents/guardians understand the process and manage the funds.
  • Cleaning Kits: Cleaning Kits are available for pregnant women, mothers of newborns and the households of lead poisoned children in Baltimore City. During a home visit, the case manager will educate the household on proper cleaning and provide them with buckets, mops, replacement mop heads, cleaner, gloves and sponges.
  • Safety Kit Installation: Safety Kits are available for households in targeted areas of Baltimore. Like cleaning kits, households are educated and then provided fire alarm, carbon monoxide detector, flashlight, 1 st Aid Kit, drawer locks, and electrical outlet protectors. The safety kit process may also include Integrated Pest Management.
  • Relocation Grant: The relocation grant is available to families with lead poisoned children to assist them in moving from an unsafe house to a lead free home. This one time, $1,000 grant may be used for security deposit or other approved uses.
  • Relocation Aid: For families of lead poisoned children, family advocacy case managers are available to help with connecting to resources like Section 8, Rental Assistance, and MBQ. Assistance in finding temporary shelter is also available.
  • Lead-Safe Housing Registry: The registry is published on a monthly basis and provides listings, free of charge to compliant property owners, of lead safe and lead free homes across Maryland.
