The Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, located in Baltimore, Maryland seeks an environmental assessment professional to perform home-based environmental assessments and inspections, integrated pest management interventions, and installation of initial safety hazard reduction measures for the Coalition's Comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety Inspection Program. This key position aims to assist community based programs by providing a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety Inspection of homes in the Baltimore area. The inspection will ensure that qualifying homes are evaluated according to the highest industry standards resulting in better health outcomes and more stable housing by applying the nationally recognized Healthy Homes Assessment and Education model to the Environmental Health and Safety Inspections and then providing either immediate interventions or a referral to available lead hazard, healthy homes, reduce home-based environmental triggers associated with asthma and to create safe homes for children that are free of lead hazards and other structural defects that might cause injury, and that are weatherized and energy efficient. Essential duties of this position include but are not limited to: Coordinate and conduct at least 12 weekly home-based environmental health and safety assessments applying Healthy Homes principles and protocols (for lead hazards, mold/moisture issues, pest control, allergens, indoor air quality issues, injury prevention, etc.) Provide education information to families on risk awareness, prevention techniques, and prevention resources for home-based environmental health hazards in target communities. Install Safety Kit materials to reduce safety hazards during home interventions; Perform integrated pest management (IPM) during home interventions; Report data in compliance with standards and regulations and maintain responsibility for project reports; Monitor achievement toward Program goals, and make recommendations towards overcoming Program barriers; Participate in weekly and other team meetings as appropriate; Support broad mission and policy efforts and initiatives of the Coalition; Coordinate and collaborate with Coalition’s team members: Program Managers, Environmental Health Educator, Hazard Reduction Crew Members, nurses, public health professionals, and community organizations; Engage in community development work to increase Program visibility, build Program partnerships, and to identify additional resources that clients can utilize; Other duties as assigned related to organizational mission and programs.
