Communications Specialist

Become the voice for a growing national nonprofit organization!  The Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning seeks a dynamic, multi-talented writer for a FT position in charge of overall communication for the organization.  The Communications Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day public relations writing (press releases, website copy, e-newsletters, special correspondence for the Executive Director) and design needs (ads, posters, brochures, business cards, etc.). This position is charged with a considerable amount of writing, as well as ensuring consistency in voice, style, and appearance for all written materials throughout the organization. 

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Craft and execute communications plan for organization
  • Draft official correspondence for Executive Director
  • Write and distribute press releases
  • Write and update website copy, email taglines
  • Write monthly e-newsletters
  • Maintain inventory of program flyers and brochures, create additional promotional materials as needed
  • Develop organization-wide style guide and train staff in proper protocol

Family Advocacy Case Manager

The Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1986, seeks a highly skilled, experienced and professional case manager to join their organization in downtown Baltimore.  The Coalition is dedicated to ending childhood lead poisoning and creating Healthy Homes so that every child may grow up to reach his or her full potential.  Under contract with Maryland Department of the Environment since 1997, one of the Coalition’s programs provides services and information to tenants and property owners regarding the Maryland Reduction of Lead Risk in Housing Law.

Responsibilities for the Family Advocate include counseling and assisting families facing lead and other environmental health hazards in order to help those families achieve safe and stable housing.   The Family Advocate Case Manager will work to ensure that tenants’ rights are protected while lead hazards and other defects are corrected in their home.  This position includes frequent home visits with families in Baltimore City and throughout the Baltimore Metro region, as well as occasional visits elsewhere in the State.  If the best option for a lead-affected family is to relocate from the property, the Family Advocate will work with the family to help facilitate that move and connect them with possible resources.  The Family Advocate will also serve as a liaison between lead affected families and appropriate agencies when seeking services and assistance.     Additionally, the Family Advocate will track and provide resources and assistance to Qualified Offer recipients.    All members of the Coalition team assist with Outreach and Education events which may include occasional night and weekend hours.
