For Adults

Although children and pregnant women are at the greatest risk for lead poisoning, adults are also vulnerable. At the highest risk are adults who work with or around lead in their jobs or hobbies.

Over time, lead will impact all major systems of the body. The full extent of lead on adults is not known and new studies emerge each year. In general, adults poisoned by lead may suffer from:

  • Hypertension
  • Nerve disorders
  • Liver and Kidney Complications
  • Muscle and Joint Pain
  • Memory and Concentration Problems
  • Sterility
  • Impotence
  • Wrist Drop
  • Irritability

Also, in pregnant women, lead poisoning increases the risk of:

  • Miscarriages
  • Low birth weight babies
  • Stillbirths
  • Underdeveloped babies
